“Chinese poetry in the eyes of Czech readers”

Abstract
The talk will introduce the beginnings of interest in Chinese literature in Bohemia. Early translations will be introduced, including the process which made Tang poetry generally known among Czech readers. This talk will cover reflections on the role of local cultural environment in the process of reception of an “exotic” literature.
Biography
Professor Olga Lomova is Associate Professor of the Faculty of Arts, Director of Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation International Sinological Centre (查理斯大學蔣經國國際漢學中心) and Deputy Director of the Institute of East Asian Studies at Charles University in Prague. As an expert in the history of Chinese Literature, she has published a lot of articles on Chinese literature and translations from and into Chinese.
